The Ignite program, started by NSCA to address awareness and interest of the AV industry, will benefit from the Drunk Unkles concert at InfoComm.

The program was launched in 2016 after surveying students, teachers and administrators to see what most appeals to them about career potentials in the industry. The Ignite committee consists of Kelly Perkins of AVI Systems, Laurie Englert of Milestone AV Technologies, and Mike Shinn of IMS Technology Services.

“We all want young, talented people to come into the industry to work for our companies,” said Englert.

One thing the committee kept hearing in their surveys was the need to develop opportunities like internships, shadowing programs and career fairs. The movement is growing with interested integrators and contractors. The committee is developing marketing materials to help get the AV message out to schools to grow interests. Promotional materials can be used by integrators at job fairs.

On June 8, the Drunk Unkles will play at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to raise funds for Ignite. Download concert passes at www.drunkunkles.com to help.
